WRITTEN WITH SADDENED EYES & A BROKEN HEART

Smokey, I’m writing this as you were so very special to me,
I’ll miss you dearly for eternity.

You were originally bought for Grandma to live with her in her home,
But, even though she loved you from the start, she didn’t want a kitty of her own.

It ended up you were a bad boy at the home you were at,
They were going to get rid of you, but I stepped up to bat.

I brought you home to see if you’d behave better and not do things wrong you had done,
You were SO happy to see the other kitties, no dogs and you had tons of love and fun.

I’ve never regretted taking you and opening my home and my heart to you,
As you gave me so much love and affection for all the years I had you.

You grew into one of the most beautiful cats in the world you see,
Everyone would always say, “Oh, How Beautiful He Is; Your Smokey.”

You had several nicknames that is so true,
I’d call you Smoke, Doodles and last, but not least Doo.

There’s a couple of things I’d say to you to make you talk to me,
People would make me say them so they also could see.

One was: Smokey Doo Dot Dot Dot Day,
How’s My Good Boy Today?

And other was Wha What Doo,
And you’d talk like you knew what you had to do.

The final days you were with me, I can’t believe what a good boy you were,
You went into the bathroom to make it easier on me that is for sure.

I was told that I was doing the right thing for you so you would suffer no more,
But why does it hurt so much and I feel guilty that is for sure.

To say “Good-Bye” tore me apart and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do,
I hope you know I did it because I loved you, so forgive me “My Precious Doo.”

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about you and miss you so,
I only wish you hadn’t gotten sick and didn’t have to go.

In Grandma’s arms I know that’s where you are,
I’ll be looking for you high up in the sky for that “Brightest Star.”

~I Miss You So Much Smokey~
