Rosie

Jessica loved to visit the SPCA. I told it was fine but we couldn't bring home another dog. We went for a visit on Saturday afternoon, and there she was. She was with her brothers and sisters, and she made her way to the front. Jessica named her Rosie, and begged and pleaded with me to bring her home. Ralph was out of town on business, so I didn't have him to talk with. I spoke to the girls in the office and they told me that she still needed to stay another week anyway just in case her *owners* came back! We told them we wanted her, and we would visit with Rosie everyday.

My husband was away again the day we brought her home, and when I called to tell him the news he already guessed.

A week later she started to get the sniffles so we took her to our vet who diagnosed distemper. He suggested we take her back to the pound.. I couldn't do that, and I asked if there was anything we could possibly do. We worked on healing her for 3 weeks, but she just went down hill fast. One evening we sensed she was not good, so we brought her into our room and placed her on the bed with us. That night she had a seizure, and we knew we had to say good bye.

It was the saddest day.

Our other dog sensed there was something wrong when we came home, and he licked away our tears, and kept a watchful eye.

Ralph who wasn't sure we needed a second dog was devastated, Rosie was with us for 3 short weeks, but the love she gave us will stay forever. We marked her favorite spot in our yard with a stone cross, and we had her cremated, and she sits with us in her little box.

Rosie will remain in our hearts for always.

Lovingly Remembered by Julia, Jessica and Ralph
